I'm not really "leaving xanga" but we haven't really been communicating these days have we? Consider it... a break... with another blog...
And really, what the hell happened? I step away from World of Xanga, to come back to crazy xanga that's trying to be the next big forgotten social network application. Honestly... here's a tip: just stick to the blogging business. Some people like simplicity... that's why google works... that's why blogger works. Don't front and try to be MySpace.

| It's been a long time since I've blogged about anything anywhere, so I
figure today is a good day as any other to start. Honestly
though, I've been ignoring xanga mostly because I forgot my password
and was too lazy to reset it. I have no excuse for not debuting
myself on the music blog -- sorry Enoch. It'll happen soon.
Moving on...it's also been a long time since I've hung out with old CKI
folks. Tonight Alice was in town so a few of us gathered in West
Covina for catching up and chatting over Filipino food and
fakeberry. At one point the boys were discussing the
effectiveness of mach 3 razors
when I noticed that the other half of the group (us girls) were nodding
along
but clearly left out of the conversation.
That’s when I jokingly suggested to the ladies that we talk about pads,
and suddenly we all found ourselves engrossed in the topic of the menstrual cycle. All of us. Here's one of many notable points in our discussion:
Kim: It’s weird how girls' cycles sync up.
Alice: Yeah!!
From the pheromones!
Larry: YOU MEAN
PERIODS ARE AIRBONE?!
Good times.

| I feel as if someone pulled the rug under me and I've stumbled flat on my face.
Pre-quarter life crisis? Assuming I'll live to 100? Maybe.

Here's a visual update of some recent shenannegans, a la Zully:
Lourdes isn't really leaving for another month, but any reason is as
good as another to go out with the girls =) Here we are at The
Velvet Margarita Cantina which has this velvet chicano theme goin
on--it's a neat place. We then hit up the Saddle Ranch in
Universal City.
Cafe Tacuba @ The Hollywood Bowl -- Lynn and Cheryl make a trip down to
see the most awesome band in the world perform under the star lit
sky. The energy was great, and we totally rocked out in the
asiles crazy style!
Cafe Tacuba @ LATV recording - The next day I found out Cafe was doing
a free show at an in-studio recording for LATV. Victor and I
finally made it in and it was totally worth it. Details mentioned
in previous post.
Joy's Birthday a la Disney - Joy came down yet again to LA but this time for her birthday in the land of magic.
Messing around in my office...
My Birthday Weekend - Kat and Joy come down from the Bay to celebrate with me and other friends as I turn 24 =)
San Diego - Linda was training down in SD, so we decided we needed a
mid-week vacay and packed up the car to visit her and distract her for
a bit.
Jon and Kat pop by LA!
Lourdes' graduation - Martha and I rush over to see Lulita graduate from El Camino College! We're gonna miss her at CII...
Coachella 2007 - yeah, I never formally posted pictures on xanga. Oops. Hot tunes under the hot sun...
Jerome's last dinner before he moves up to SF. Man this was a
while ago, but it's in my Picasa gallery so might as well link it too :P

| I hate to admit it, but LA is growing on me. Where else can I
rock out with my favorite band of all time in such a beautiful venue as
the Hollywood Bowl with 18,000 people, and the next night chill out for
free in the intimate setting of a recording studio with about 100
people? Fan-fuckin-tastic.
Warning: long overview. What can I say? I was amped... and I'm still super excited.
Last night Groove Armada opened up for Cafe Tacuba at the Bowl, and
we
arrived just in time for a bomb ass song ...I forget what it's
called. Of course we opened up the wine immediately and got the
party started. Everything pre-bowl was horribly stressful, but
what mattered was that we were there. Cafe played a power-packed
set of all their greatest hits with 2 or 3 new ones thrown in
between. The new ones didn't sound too bad, but of course we were
all there to hear our faovirtes. Since we scored the seats in the
end of the row, Lynn and I got to rock out on the wide steps instead of
this awkward little space in between our benches. That's where we
skanked, do-see-dosed, danced, jumped....you name it! Luckily
there was also room to do the Dejate Caer dance half assed on not just
one step, but two...because that's how I roll. Everyone around us
was up and dancing, so I think we got the awesome section. The
set was only 1.5 hours long, which was disappointing compared to when
we first saw them in San Jose which seemed to go on forever. But it doesn't matter.... for a
Bowl concert the energy was off the hook and overall an awesome
time. Sans shady parking.
Right when I thought the party was over, I checked my new favorite
music blog where they mentioned that Cafe Tacuba was going to play at a
pre-recorded show for LATV. To get us into the studio audience I
tried emailing and calling LATV, but only got some shoddy information
from the operator. I was told that tickets were not necessary and
I didn't need to do anything but show up early to be in line.
Sweet. We get there at 6:45pm only to be ostracized because we
weren't on "the list." Obviously I should not have relied on the
advice from the operator. Our little group of 8 non-listers
waited 1.5 hours on the side in the freezing cold but were finally let
in at the end just in time for the performance. We missed the
Q&A in person, but were able to watch a live broadcast in a little
waiting room while signing release forms. Finally, the
performance...
I thought they would mostly play new songs to promote their upcoming
album, but to my surprise they opened with "Chilanga Banda" and did
mostly old songs with only three new ones thrown in between.
Their
new shit sounded better than it did in the Bowl, except for that New
Wave sounding type song which slightly weirded me out. "Eres,"
"Ojala Que Llueva Cafe," "Flores," "Como Te Extrano," "El Baile y el
Salon," were some of the songs played. I was awesomely shocked
when they did the dance for Dejate Caer for such a small crowd.
It made my day. About 4 or 5 songs into the set, Sazu (or
whatever his new name is now) announced the last song, which was really
a lie because we all demanded more, and they gave it to us. Then
when that was over, we said more, and he said OKAY! This went on
for about 4 or 5 more songs, until they ended with the crowd's requests
for
"Ingrata" and "Pinche Juan." He mentioned the producers of LATV
were giving him dirty looks, but that didn't stop him his shennanegans
and rants about record labels. I think what ultimately got them
to stop was their growling bellies--they were hungry.
What made tonight's show infinitely
awesome was how Cafe was able to interact with the small crowd.
Sazu joined the mini mosh pit, threw himself to the mercy of the people
for some crowd surfing, and even told audience members to come up to
start off Ingrata because he was tired of singing it so damn
much. Awesome. During Como Te Extrano or El Baile y el
Salon (I forget which because they are both tied for favorite), Sazu
was gazing at the crowd, soaking in our smiling faces as we sang
along. The best part was when he acknowledged the adoring fans
who were singing by giving them an ear to ear grin and a nod of the
head. I swear I made eye contact and one of those nods was for
me and not some other whoever behind me. Don't spoil it and tell
me otherwise. =)
I'm in the 10th degree of happiness.
Updates with videos, pictures and music files coming soon. And
maybe a more reader friendly version of this entry too. If I feel
like it.
